Liv Tyler and Patrick Wilson have joined the cast of forthcoming action thriller The Ledge.
Written by first-time director Matthew Chapman, The Ledge tells of a seemingly suicidal man (Charlie Hunnam) who claims he must jump from a high-rise building by noon while policeman Terrance Howard attempts to talk him down.
Ahead of the film's first shooting day in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Monday, Lord of the Rings actress Tyler and Watchmen star Wilson have been confirmed as new additions to the cast.
According to Chapman, his debut feature looks at "the different and sometimes dangerous beliefs people adopt as a means of surviving emotional trauma".
Producer Michael Mailer adds the apparently simplistic premise of The Ledge has a great deal more to offer than suspense and thrills.
"As more and more films succumb to the visual wizardry of 3D, The Ledge explores the fourth dimension: the interior life of tortured souls hovering over the precipice of emotional nullity," he told the Hollywood Reporter.
"This film is the reason why I became an independent filmmaker and why I continue to suffer in the trenches of independent filmmaking."
