Leinster failed to grab home advantage for the knockout stages of the Heineken Cup after a 13-19 loss to Gloucester at Kingsholm.

The sides were level 7-7 at the break after Brian O' Driscoll crossed the line for the visitors, cancelling out Gloucester's penalty try.

After a Felipe Contepomi penalty had put Leinster ahead, Christian Califano and Mark Foster both scored tries for the hosts to seal victory.

Contepomi kicked a penalty in the closing stages for Gloucester to clinch a bonus point.

The result sees the Lions finish top of pool two on 21 points while Gloucester are eliminated after finishing in third with three wins from six games.

Edinburgh finished off their miserable European campaign with a 7-19 defeat against Agen at Murrayfield.

Head coach Lynn Howells made two changes to the starting line-up as the hosts were outplayed and trailed 14-0 at the break.

Pepito Elhorga, Morrisson Faaletino, and Rupeni Caucaunibuca all crossed the line for Agen who finish second in the pool with four wins from six games.

Back row Ross Rennie scored a second half try for Edinburgh while Rob Dewey made his first start of the year.

The quarter-final ties will take place in the final weekend of January.
