Tottenham Hotspur have been boosted by the news that star winger Aaron Lennon could be back in just two weeks time as he continues to make good progress on his comeback from injury.
The 19-year-old England international was forced to have surgery to repair an injury to his knee at the end of last month, which was expected to keep him out for several weeks.
However, Tottenham manager Martin Jol confirmed that Lennon was making a better than expected recovery, saying he was "ahead of schedule".
And the sprightly young wide player could be joined back in the first team by new signing Steed Malbranque.
The former Fulham man is also gaining fitness after the hernia operation that has prevented him from making an appearance for his new club since his deadline-day move.
"Malbranque is getting fitter," Jol said, confirming that the midfield playmaker was now running as part of his recovery schedule.
Spurs are in desperate need of a boost as they currently sit 14th in the Premiership, even after beating Portsmouth last weekend, with just two wins in their first seven matches.
The start is doubly disappointing after the club fell just one game short of securing qualification for the Champions League at the end of last season.
