Arsenal will be without goalkeeper Jens Lehmann for a minimum of two weeks after the German international aggravated an Achilles tendon injury in the game against England on Wednesday.
Lehmann, who has had a difficult start to the new Premier League season after conceding two howlers against Blackburn and Fulham, will be replaced by Manuel Almunia for Saturday's game with Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium.
The 37-year-old will also miss the second leg of the Gunners' Champions League qualifier against Sparta Prague next Wednesday.
"Lehmann is out and he will miss two weeks I think. Maybe more - I don't know," said Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.
"He is going to see a specialist in Germany on Friday. He had this injury before but it has got much worse."
Arsenal will be boosted by the return of midfielder Gilberto Silva and striker Emanuel Adebayor when they face Sven Goran Eriksson's table-topping City side, but will have to do without the services of injured defenders William Gallas and Emanuel Eboue.
