Stephen Lee survived a fightback from Ali Carter to secure his place in the second round of snooker's World Championship with a 10-8 win.
Lee started the day 6-3 ahead but Carter won five frames in a row to take a shock 8-7 lead, including a tournament-best 135 break in the 15th frame.
Lee, this season's Welsh Open champion, had to take a break and came back to win the next two frames and take a 9-8 lead with breaks of 61 and 62.
Carter missed a long red in the 18th frame to let Lee back to the table to claim a battling win.
It was huge relief for Lee, who was sporting a shock blonde mullet after a disastrous recent visit to the hairdresser's.
On Saturday, Carter had a 112 break but Lee's safety play paved the way for a three-frame lead coming into today's play.
Ronnie O'Sullivan said that Lee would go on to dominate the sport after he won the UK Championship in 2004, but the world number ten has failed to produce since.
On the other table, Stephen Maguire was leading Mark King 6-3 at the end of the session, with play due to resume at 2.30 on Monday.
