Young actor Liam Hemsworth is to star in upcoming 3D adventure Arabian Nights, reports claim.
The 20-year-old, who co-stars with teen actress Miley Cyrus in Disney drama The Last Song, is in negotiations to join Inferno Entertainment's three-dimensional take on the classic Middle Eastern tale, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Written by Russell and Barry P Ambrose, Arabian Nights will tell of a young military commander (to be played by Hemsworth) who attempts to react to the loss of his king in a violent coup.
The hero of the hour joins up with iconic Middle Eastern characters Sinbad, Ali Baba and the genie of the lamp as he battles to rescue Queen Scheherazade.
Directed by Chuck Russell, Arabian Nights is in line for a 2011 release.
A relative unknown, Hemsworth appeared in Australian soaps Home & Away and Neighbours before landing a role in Nicolas Cage thriller Knowing in 2009.
He co-stars with his rumoured girlfriend Cyrus in Nicholas Sparks adaptation The Last Song and his success represents yet more success for the Hemsworth family, after older brother Chris appeared in Star Trek before landing the lead role in Thor.
