A large earthquake has struck off the coast of Indonesia, the US geological survey has confirmed.

The quake, measured at a magnitude of 6.0, struck near the north coast of Papua, the largest province of Indonesia.

The earthquake was measured as a depth of 21.7 miles and 195 miles east of Sorong in Papua.

There are currently no reports of any casualties or damage.

The quake comes just weeks after a devastating earthquake in West Sumatra left hundreds of people dead.
