Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard believes his side were unfortunate not to earn more from their Champions League first leg tie at Inter Milan, after falling to a 2-1 defeat.
Inter took an early lead but Chelsea equalised through Salomon Kalou at the break. However, Esteban Cambiasso scored to give Inter a 2-1 lead heading into the second at Stamford Bridge, but Lampard thinks the Premier League leaders could have got more than a solitary away goal for their efforts.
Lampard said: "I think we maybe deserved more from the way we played.
"The main thing is that we are still right in the tie and if we take our chances, we can go through."
Chelsea felt aggrieved that they were not awarded a first half stoppage time penalty after Walter Samuel had hauled down Kalou in the box, but Lampard admitted he wasn't best-placed to see the incident.
"Was too far away to see exactly what happened, but Salomon thinks it was a penalty.
"It would have probably been red card, but we'll take it on the chin and maybe we will get given something similar in the second leg."
Lampard also added that despite the defeat, he is confident that Chelsea can take the positives and still reach the last eight of the competition.
"2-1 is a pretty even result. We have got the away goal and we can take the positives to Stamford Bridge."
