David Beckham's hopes of continuing his England comeback after he moves to the USA have been boosted by a promise from Los Angeles Galaxy manager Alexi Lalas to help the midfielder answer his country's call.
The 32-year-old midfielder is set to switch to the Major League Soccer (MLS) side at the end of the La Liga season and it had been feared that his stateside schedule may prevent him continuing his excellent international form.
The Real Madrid star created three of England's four goals in recent clashes against Brazil and Estonia with trademark raking crosses from the right flank.
Lalas claims that even if Beckham misses some of his new team's matches, the prestige of having a Galaxy player take centre stage in the international game more than compensates.
"If David continues to be called up for England we'll drive him to the airport," the former USA international defender told BBC Five Live.
"Let's be honest, it's not only an honour for him but also for the Galaxy and the fact we can say one of our players is named in the England squad, I think it's a wonderful statement on the quality that exists at the Galaxy."
Lalas also stated that MLS fans are accustomed to such clubs versus country conflicts.
"We play an international game here and our fans understand that and we understand that and the bigger picture is important," he said.
