Robert Kubica will remain with the Renault formula one team, even though doubts surfaced over his future with the French manufacturer.

Kubica was left in limbo when BMW announced it's withdrawal from the sport towards the end of the 2009 season, but it wasn't long before the Pole had signed a deal with Renault as a replacement for double-world champion Fernando Alonso, who has made the switch to Ferrari.

But, uncertainty surrounding Renault's future in F1 made Kubica reconsider his place with the Enstone-based outfit and look for other options.

However, now an investment from Genii Capital has been secured, guaranteeing the team's future, Kubica's management has confirmed the Pole will stay with Renault under the terms of his original deal.

"We need some time - at least a few days - to evaluate the new situation so I am not in a position to say we will leave or stay," said Kubica's manager Daniele Morelli at the end of last year, when the deal with Genii Capital was done.

But, on Monday, Morelli said progress has been made and suggested Kubica will drive for the team in 2010.

"We are going in the right direction," Morelli told BBC Sport.

"There were no doubts, really, but it was very important we understood who were in the key roles in the team and of course also the budget - it is fundamental you have that for the updates to the car."

"It is totally untrue that we were asking for more money.

"It is not in our interests to take advantage. We want the money for the team.

"Robert wants a performing car. It's useless if the driver gets more money if you have a weak car and lose performance bonuses.

"It's better to score points and make podiums than to earn more money."
