Kevin Pietersen has been passed fit to play for England in the second Test at Lord's after undergoing another injection on his injured Achilles.
However, Australian fast bowler Brett Lee will once again be missing for the visitors having failed to recover from the rib injury that forced him to sit out the opening Test at Cardiff.
An England spokesman said that Pietersen's body had reacted well to the injection and he had managed to practice on Wednesday, meaning he would be available for the Lord's Test.
It is the second injection Pietersen has had in consecutive weeks after he also received one to help him through the first Test.
"He had an injection in his back before the game at Cardiff," confirmed an England spokesman.
"He then had an injection in his Achilles yesterday. He is fit and available for selection."
Lee has been unable to train since injuring himself in Australia's final warm-up game for the Ashes against England Lions.
Captain Ricky Ponting said: "He [Lee] didn't train with us yesterday and that means he won't be available for selection."
Lee's injury means the Aussies are likely to field the same side that narrowly missed out on victory at Sofia Gardens on Sunday.
Their only selection issue may surround the position of spinner Nathan Hauritz. He could be replaced by Stuart Clarke who is fit again and would give Australia an all seam attack.
Ponting added: "We've not finalised out XI yet, that is something that we will wait for the toss to decide."
