Newcastle manager Joe Kinnear praised his side's performance after they drew 2-2 with Manchester City.
The home side played much of the game with ten men after Habib Beye was sent off in the 12th minute.
But they would have earned all three points had Stephen Ireland not equalised for City in the dying minutes.
Though he was disappointed not to win the game, Kinnear was proud of the effort his side put in.
"It was a fantastic performance from ten men," Kinnear said.
"You couldn't have asked for more. On another day if we'd had a bit of luck we would have got all three points.
"We've come out of it with a lot of credit and a decent point even though I was looking for all three.
"I thought we'd just about hold on, but there was a lot of tired legs out there."
