Amir Khan will clash with Denmark's Martin Kristjansen on February 2nd in London.
The Olympic silver medallist will fight the Dane at the ExCel Arena for the WBO intercontinental lightweight crown.
Kristjansen has 19 wins and three losses in his career but has just five knockouts.
Khan, who turned 21 this month, stopped Graham Earl in just 72 seconds in the second defence of his Commonwealth title in Bolton earlier this month.
Khan was expected to face British lightweight champion Jon Thaxton in his next bout.
The pair have been locked in a war of words in the last few weeks with Khan recently ridiculing Thaxton's ability.
"In the past Jon has always been saying that he'll be the first to beat me, but I've heard nothing since I destroyed Earl, who's a much better fighter than Thaxton," Khan said.
"Before the fight I said I'd retire Earl, and I'll do the same to Thaxton. Jon's a good fighter but he's not in my league. I'll be too quick and too strong for him, and I can't see the fight going the distance.
"In fact I think I'd get more of a challenge from Delia Smith - at least she can break an egg."
His promoter, Frank Warren, has hinted that the British Pakistani fighter will fight Thaxton next year.
Khan, who has won his last 15 fights, has always declared he wants to become Britain's youngest world champion. Naseem Hamed was 21 years and seven months old when he became world featherweight champion in 1995.
