Kevin Pietersen has insisted he is more happy than disappointed with his 99-run haul against Bangladesh after being clean bowled just one short of a morale-boosting century.
Pietersen responded from a run of dismal form with a performance that saw him score just one run shy of his 17th test century, but he described his 99 as 'special'.
He said: "The lads have just said would you have taken 99 this morning and after the way I've been playing over the last couple of week I certainly would have done. I'm disappointed [not to get a century] but the teams in a fantastic position. Chief [Alastair Cook] played brilliantly and 99 is better than naught."
The 29-year-old had been struggling in recent weeks with his form and admitted that he has had work hard to change certain aspects of the game including taking advice from Indian batsman Rahul Dravid.
He said: "I've had long chats with Rahul Dravid during the week and he was spectacular with the little things he spoke about and the little tips he gave me.
"He told me about my hands and position of my feet and where to look to hit the ball. The hard work as obviously paid off, you've seen how hard I've worked this week and I've loved it."
