With the transfer deadline fast approaching Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon remains sure that his club's long-running pursuit of Arsenal's Ashley Cole will end in success.
There are just seven days left in which to tie up a deal and so far Arsene Wenger has snubbed the Blues' repeated offers for the want-away England left-back.
But Kenyon believes that there is a desire on both clubs' part to make a deal, even if is at the very last minute.
"We just need to agree a price, so I'm optimistic. I think it's fair to say it will go to the wire. We'd like it not to, but it could do," he said at Monaco's Champions League draw.
"Those discussions have been going on for several weeks and they'll be going on for another few days. We'll see what we can get. There's a commitment on both sides to try and get a deal done," he added when interviewed by Sky Sports News.
Arsenal have suggested that allowing William Gallas to join them at the Emirates Stadium might be incentive enough to put Cole's transfer in motion.
Kenyon admitted that Chelsea might have to resort to using the French defender as a makeweight.
"We rejected an offer, but I know they are interested in him and would still like him to be part of the deal. Whether he will or he won't, I'm not sure."
