Sunderland manager Roy Keane is hopeful of bringing Manchester United youngsters Danny Simpson and Jonny Evans back to the Stadium of Light in the January transfer window.
The pair were on loan at Sunderland last season and played a major part in helping the club gain promotion into the Premier League.
"If I thought there was an opportunity to bring Jonny to Sunderland, we would consider it," said Keane.
"He did brilliantly for the club before, as did Danny, and it would be nice if we thought they'd come back."
Both Evans and Simpson have represented the Manchester United first team and the latter played in United's 4-0 home win against Wigan today, setting up Wayne Rooney for his goal.
Keane knows that both players are highly thought of by United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and a lot of teams will be wanting to take both players on loan.
"Nothing happens until January anyway. But I know there will be a lot of teams ringing up United after Sir Alex said the other week that there would be plenty going out on loan," said Keane.
"His phone will be red hot at this moment in time and whether Jonny will still be there in January I really don't know, but it would be nice if we thought they'd come back."
