Overnight leader Paul McGinley had a nightmare third round at the BMW PGA Championship to see his lead evaporate and fall five shots of the lead.
The Irishman played brilliantly in the first two rounds, but was completely out of touch at Wentworth today, putting seven bogeys and a double-bogey in a round of 79.
Swede Robert Karlsson carded a respectable round of two-under-par 70, but McGinley's poor round saw Karlsson surge into a four shot lead finishing on 11-under-par.
The highlight of Karlsson's round were four birdies and a eagle at the par-five 12th. He made sure of a big lead by birding holes 17 and 18.
"It was a testing day," said Karlsson. "I just tried to do what I'm best at, focus and keep going.
"When Paul [McGinley] got off to a poor start it was important that I did not get caught up in that.
"Now I'll either come out a winner or a stronger man on the final day so either way it's good. It is another 18 holes and that's all I'm focused on."
Miguel Angel Jimenez and Oliver Wilson are tied on second place on seven-under-par. Jimenez had a level-par round of 72, while Wilson dropped only one stroke in his round.
India's Jyoti Randhawa carded a round of 69 to lift himself to six-under-par and shares joint third place with McGinley and Daniel Vancsik.
