Jacques Kallis had nothing but praise for Andrew Flintoff after the pair were involved in a titanic battle in the second test at Edgbaston today.
The South African batsman was on the receiving end of a hostile spell of bowling from Flintoff and in the end it was the England star who won the battle as he bowled Kallis with an out-swinging yorker.
Flintoff's heroics reduced South Africa to 256/6 which means South Africa have a 25 run first innings lead and Kallis is still confident his team can get themselves into a strong position.
"He (Flintoff) bowled a fantastic spell and brought England back into the game," Kallis said. "You get good battles in test cricket and it's good for the game.
"People say test cricket is dying but it's clear that is not the case. What more do you want than periods of play like that?
"With the amount of movement there still is off the wicket it makes life tough for the batsmen. I think there is going to movement throughout the game.
"If we can get a hundred ahead hopefully our bowlers can get the ball in the right areas like Fred (Flintoff) did," added Kallis.
South Africa will be looking to establish a big first innings lead with Ashwell Prince (37 not out) and Mark Boucher (11 not out) at the crease.
England will be coming out tomorrow aiming for early wickets and restricting the South African lead to as little as possible.
