England seamer Simon Jones made an encouraging return from injury as Glamorgan drew with Cardiff UCCE.
The Glamorgan star missed England's tours of Pakistan and India and failed to get much match practice as rain stopped the first two days play at Sophia Gardens.
But he came on today and bowled with pace and menace on a lifeless pitch to finish with 1-23 after nine overs.
Jones, 27, said: "It felt good. The ball was coming out well and I was generating some pace on a slow pitch.
"It's given me some confidence for the C&G Trophy game at Chelmsford (on Sunday) where I'm hoping to take the new ball."
Jones is fighting to be fit for the first Test against Sri Lanka on May 11th at Lords.
He was a key figure in England's Ashes victory last summer, making reverse swing a subject for national debate.
In Cardiff, the sides forfeited their first innings before Glamorgan racked up 303-5 in 50 overs and the students closed on 148-5.
Michael Powell (90 not out), Mark Wallace (46 not out) and Richard Grant (53) were in the runs for the county side.
Wallace's knock came from 29 balls and 22 of his runs came in the final four balls of the innings, when he dispatched Aaron Shingler for three sixes over long-on and a four.
