By Martyn Thomas.
Martin Johnson has defended his England side, claiming they did enough to win the game after a fractured draw with Scotland at Murrayfield.
The result was enough for England to retain the Calcutta Cup, however it all but ends their Six Nations hopes with France facing Italy tomorrow.
"I think we should have won the game," Johnson said after the game.
"I think we had more of the game than them at the end and I think we should have put the game to bed."
Johnson also lamented the loss of Ugo Monye, who had to be stretchered off after a nasty looking clash of heads with Kelly Brown. Although the Quins winger had to be stretchered, Johnson confirmed this was a precautionary measure.
"We could have done with Ugo on the field near the end there, with a few of the chances we created down the left wing," the England manager added.
Also speaking after the game England skipper Steve Borthwick refused to blame Toby Flood for the result after the Leicester fly-half missed a penalty before seeing his drop-goal in over-time charged down.
"You have to credit Scotland with their defence, for getting off the line so quickly to get the block in," Borthwick said.
"I think it's healthy for English rugby to have two fly-halves the calibre of Jonny Wilkinson and Toby Flood."
