David Howell has continued at the head of the PGA Championship at Wentworth, three shots clear of Miguel Angel Jimenez.
England's Howell shot a 69 at the rainy course to move to 14 under par and stay three shots ahead of his Spanish Ryder Cup friend and colleague.
Howell, European Order of Merit leader, went out in blistering form and was on 33 at the turn after a couple of birdies. He dropped a shot on the back nine but was able to hold off the up-coming Jimenez.
The Spaniard scored a superb 65, which was particularly impressive given the conditions he faced.
Jimenez said: "It rains so little in Malaga that when the clouds are coming I put the clubs away. But I've had so many years playing on Tour and you have to adapt to playing in all conditions. It wasn't windy - that's worse - and it was only raining hard on the last.
"It will be a gentleman's battle tomorrow. David is a great player, there's no doubt, and a nice guy. A super guy."
Paul Casey and Simon Kahn are the next challengers lying back on eight under par. Padraig Harrington and Jean van de Velde are amongst the players a few shots further back.
