Sri Lanka look set to bring former captain Sanath Jayasuriya back into the side for the crucial third Test with England at Trent Bridge.
Jayasuriya has been named in the 12-man squad for tomorrow's deciding Test match.
The ex-captain Jayasuriya was not in the original squad to tour England but flew over to help the team when he reached an agreement with the board which runs Sri Lankan cricket.
The sudden arrival of the batsman is thought to have taken place without the assent of coach Tom Moody and there were suggestions that despite making the trip he would not feature in the Test team.
Current captain Mahela Jayawardene said: "He hasn't played Test cricket for quite some time so it's a tough call for him. But he's played 100 odd Test matches and that should count for something.
"He's looking forward to the challenge. Plus, he gives us a different variation with his left-arm spinners if it starts turning on the fourth or fifth day."
Jayasuriya has played 102 Test matches with an excellent average of 41.59, he announced his retirement from Tests in April.
