Jennifer Lopez's publicist has vehemently denied rumours that the all-singing actress and husband Marc Anthony are expecting their first child.
The representative was forced to make the claim after the rumour-mill went into overdrive when a singer who found fame on the US version of Pop Idol told an Atlanta radio station that he knew the real reason why J Lo had dropped out of the big-screen remake of 80s institution Dallas.
Jesse McCartney, 19, was asked live on air if his girlfriend Katie Cassidy, who will play Lucy Ewing in the film, had any inside gossip regarding why J Lo pulled out of portraying Sue Ellen.
"She didn't get fired. She's pregnant," the singer blurted out, before red-facedly (presumably since it was radio), turning to his publicist and saying: "Was I not supposed to say anything?"
But J Lo's own spokesperson has said that the 37-year-old is "100 per cent not pregnant". Jennie and singer husband Marc, together for more than two years, have previously spoken of their desire to have children.
Fans of J Lo eager to see the singer with her own bundle of joy will be disappointed that McCartney himself has retracted his claims, issuing a statement that said: "I have no firsthand knowledge whether Jennifer Lopez is pregnant or not. I thought I had read it somewhere, I apologise."
Poor Ms Lopez, but great PR for everyone else.
