At least six people have been injured following an explosion close to a Turkish police station in the eastern city of Igdir, according to media reports.
Kurdish guerrillas are suspected to be behind the explosion, Turkish police claim, which involved a bomb being placed inside a truck left outside the police station earlier today.
Up to 17 people were injured in the attack, including three policemen, while in a separate incident a remote-controlled bomb was reportedly detonated on a railway in south-east Turkey.
The Anatolian news agency said that the alleged terrorist attack is the latest in a series of bombings initiated by the militant wing of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), a political group calling for an independent Kurdish state based around the intersecting borders of Iraq, Iran and Turkey.
Although there are currently political efforts underway to secure greater parliamentary representation of the Kurdish cause, commentators fear a rapid radicalisation of Kurdish groups is currently underway.
At least three people died in attacks last month on Turkish coastal resorts in Marmaris, Antalya and Istanbul.
