Three people were killed and two injured after roadside bomb hit their convoy south of Baghdad, the UK Foreign Office has confirmed.
The attack on the private security workers took place 50km south of the Iraqi capital at around 9:30am local time today.
The nationality of the civilians has not been confirmed but the attack was reported to the British embassy, officials said.
Both injured security contractors are being treated at a Baghdad hospital.
Reports suggest that the victims were working for London-based private security company Aegis Defense Services.
In a separate incident, two British civilians were hurt in a bomb attack near Basra yesterday.
The pair were taken by helicopter to a British military base after their convoy was hit by a roadside bomb 40km away from the city in southern Iraq.
