One person has died and 25 others are reported to have been injured after a Portuguese train derailed this afternoon. The train was travelling from Tua to Mirandela when it came off the rails near the village of Brunheda. According to the Lusa news agency, emergency officials have said the train derailed after an explosion in the first carriage. The train is reported to have carrying 50 people. Ten of those injured are said to be in a serious condition. "A derailment of a train with about 50 people [on board] has occurred and the train fell into a ravine," a spokesperson for the country's civil protection services told the Reuters news agency.Fire crews have said that several of the passengers are still trapped on the train. Local media reports claim the fatality in the crash was a young girl.
