A gunman has killed two people and injured seven more after opening fire in a church in Tennessee.
Local children were putting on a show at the Unitarian Universalist church in Knoxville when the man opened fire into the congregation using a 12-guage shotgun.
The two victims were later named as Linda Kraeger, 61, and Greg McKendry, 60.
Police confirmed that Jim Adkisson, 58, of Powell, Tennessee, had been charged with one count of first-degree murder.
Local police chief Sterling Own claimed that the motive for the shooting had yet to be determined and it was something detectives were "aggressively pursuing".
Of the seven people injured, two have been released from hospital while the other five are in either critical or serious conditions.
None of the children putting on the performance of Annie are thought to have been injured in the shooting.
