A Chinese Islamic group is believed to have released a video which threatens an attack on the Olympic Games in Beijing.

Footage reported on Thursday by US internet-monitoring group IntelCenter says a video dated August 1st features "graphics showing a burning Olympics logo and an explosion imposed over one of the venues".

The video is believed to have been made by the Turkistan Islamic Party, a group with ties to al-Qaida.

No translation is yet available for the footage, with the comments featured in the Uighurs language, used by a Muslim minority in western China.

However, the video is similar to that purportedly produced by the Turkistan Islamic Party last month, according to IntelCenter.

A video dated July 23rd, discovered by IntelCenter, threatened a terrorist attack on the Beijing Olympics.

"We will try to attack Chinese central cities severely using the tactics that have never been employed," it said.

"We warn China and the international community for the last time that those spectators, athletes, particularly the Muslims, who are planning to attend the Olympics, please change your intention from going to China.

"Please do not stand together with the faithless people."

The July 23rd video added: "The Turkistan Islamic Party volunteers will conduct violent military actions against individuals, departments, venues, and activities that are related to the Olympics in China."
