The 88-year-old man accused of shooting a security guard dead at the US Holocaust Memorial Museum will stand trial despite being shot himself in the alleged incident.
In a court statement from the FBI, it was revealed that James von Brunn was expected to survive the injuries he sustained in Washington DC on June 10th.
Mr Von Brunn "was in [a] critical, but stable, condition with an expectation of survival", the statement said.
He sustained gunshot wounds to the face when guards returned fire after he allegedly opened fire and killed 39-year-old security guard Stephen Johns after entering the museum.
Charges of murder and killing in possession of a firearm in a federal facility have already been levelled against him.
