Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has admitted that he is ready to lure West Ham's Carlos Tevez to the San Siro.
The Italian champions appear to be in pole position for the Argentine schemer's signature after the player told reporters that the chance to team up with the Nerazzurri's sizeable South American contingent was hard to resist.
Now Moratti has confirmed that the attraction is mutual and it appears that Tevez's remarkable performances in the Hammers' successful survival bid will be the last that the Premiership sees of him for the foreseeable future.
"It's true. He's a player we like a lot. He has qualities and character. It's what we need," Moratti said.
England's top three clubs, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool, are all believed to be keen on prolonging the 23-year-old star's stay on these shores, but none is thought to have the necessary funds to go toe-to-toe in a bidding war with the Serie A giants.
Tevez arrived at West Ham along with compatriot Javier Mascherano in a controversial move from Brazilian club Corinthians in September.
Although it took him some time to settle at Upton Park, his work-rate immediately endeared him to the club's supporters and their faith was rewarded with seven crucial goals in his final ten games in the claret-and-blue.
