Australia batsman Mike Hussey has urged his team-mates to try and match what England did at Cardiff as they try to save the second Test match.
The visitors are in big trouble after collapsing to 156/8 in their first innings at Lords in reply to the 425 set by England. Australia are in real danger of now missing the follow-on and a face a massive task in saving the Test match.
However, Hussey thinks that Australia could still come out with something from the match if they showed the kind of fighting spirit that England showed in Cardiff.
England looked to be heading for defeat in the first Test as Australia needed just one wicket to win, but James Anderson and Monty Panesar fought bravely for 11.3 overs to save the match and earn a draw.
"We watched England fight their way out of a pretty big hole in Cardiff," said Hussey. "We've got to show similar resolve.
"We've got two batters left and it's important we try and scrape our way past the follow-on first. That's got to be our first target; just make their bowlers bowl more overs and try to wear them down a little bit more.
"Obviously they're going to have a bit of momentum. We need to just hang in there long enough and put the pressure back on them, and then we're going to have to bat very, very well in the second innings. We have to show a lot of fight and a lot of pride in our performance, and I'm confident our team can do that."
