Norway's Thor Hushovd has retaken the yellow jersey after the second stage of the Tour de France after claiming bonus seconds.
The Credit Agricole rider, who won the prologue in Strasbourg on Saturday, claimed the overall lead in Le Tour from American George Hincapie after he finished third in the stage between Obernai to Esch-sur-Alzette.
The stage was won by Australia's Robbie McEwen, who claimed the green jersey as top sprinter, but it was Hushovd, who suffered a bad fall yesterday, who came out on top overall.
"I didn't know this morning if I could even sprint but you forget the pain," Hushovd said.
"My goal now is to keep the yellow jersey as long as possible but my form is good so I think I can make it."
Hushovd leads Belgian world champion Tim Boonen by five seconds after the second day of competition, after the Quickstep rider leapfrogged Hincapie after coming second in the stage.
The Discovery Channel rider is now in fourth, ten seconds behind Hushovd and two behind McEwen, who moved up to third.
Britain's David Millar, riding for Saunier Duval, is in 12th place overall, 26 seconds behind the Norwegian, after finishing 23rd in stage two.
Fellow Briton Bradley Wiggins of the Cofidis team finished in 164th in stage two.
