Iraq drama The Hurt Locker, blockbuster Avatar and British film An Education are leading the field for the 2010 Bafta awards, with eight nominations each.
The trio are all nominated for the best film Bafta, with Up In The Air and Precious also in the running.
District 9 has seven nominations, with Up In The Air and Inglourious Basterds following close behind on six.

James Cameron could follow his Golden Globe success with a best director Bafta, though his ex-wife Kathryn Bigelow is up for the same prize for The Hurt Locker, with Neill Blomkamp (District 9), Lone Scherfig (An Education) and Quentin Tarantino (Inglourious Basterds) also shortlisted.
Up-and-coming British actress Carey Mulligan is unsurprisingly nominated for the best actress award for her performance in An Education but should she lose out to one of her competitors, who include Meryl Streep and Audrey Tautou, Mulligan may still walk away with a trophy next month.
The young thespian is also nominated for the Orange Rising Star award, voted for by the public, with Jesse Eisenberg (Zombieland), Tahar Rahim (A Prophet), Nicholas Hoult (A Single Man) and Kristen Stewart (New Moon) also shortlisted.
The best actor category bears similarity to its Golden Globes counterpart, with George Clooney (Up In The Air), Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart) and Colin Firth (A Single Man) nominated, though The Hurt Locker's Jeremy Renner and Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll actor Andy Serkis are also in the running.
Other nominees who have been otherwise overlooked at many awards ceremonies this season include political satire In The Loop (for outstanding British film and best adapted screenplay) Me and Orson Welles actor Christian McKay (best supporting actor) and Moon director Duncan Jones (best British film and outstanding debut by a British writer, director or producer).
The 2010 Baftas take place at London's Royal Opera House on February 21st.
