A 26ft high rogue wave has hit a cruise ship in the Mediterranean Sea, killing two people and injuring a further 14.
The Cypriot-owned Louis Majesty was carrying almost 2,000 people and travelling from Barcelona to Genoa when it is believed to have been hit.
The wave is reported to have smashed the glass windshields of the ship, killing a German man and an Italian man and injuring 14 others.
The ship's owners Louis Cruises said in a statement confirmed the incident, claiming the vessel had been struck by a series of "abnormal waves".
"As a result, the windows in a public area on deck five on the forward part of the vessel smashed resulting in the fatal injury of two passengers of German and Italian nationality while 14 more passengers suffered light injuries," the statement added.
"The vessel's medical team is already providing all possible care to the injured passengers."
The ship was carrying 1,350 passengers and 580 crew members at the time of the tragedy.
