Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks has said he will block any attempt by his partner George Gillett to sell his stake in the club.
The two Americans bought the club in February last year but have had a frosty relationship with the fans since then and it was rumoured that Gillett was considering selling his shares to Dubai International Capital (DIC).
However, Hicks told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram: "Not only am I not going to sell, my partner cannot sell without my approval. So I kind of have the ability to determine the outcome of what is going to happen, and I am right in the middle of that."
Gillett and Hicks came under fire recently after admitting that they had been in talks with Jurgen Klinsmann about taking over from current boss Rafa Benitez.
Fans have also raised issues about the financial handling of the club during the Americans' reign.
The comments by Hicks suggest for the first time a breakdown in the relationship between the two owners.
DIC attempted to buy Liverpool at the same time as Hicks and Gillett but were beaten to the deal by the Americans. There have been rumours that the Dubai group are still keen to buy the club.
