Tim Henman revealed today that the injury he suffered while playing at an indoor tournament in Basle last week was not serious and that it did not require surgery.
The injury came as Henman was looking to improve on his world ranking at the Paris masters event this week, a title he won in 2003.
Britain's number two twisted his knee and that caused an inflammation in his knee and hamstring which will put him out for the rest of the season.
Explaining the injury he said: "It was very painful in the third set and very swollen when I woke up the next day and there's some inflammation of my hamstring and knee but I've been told it's nothing serious.
"I'm hoping it will settle down and the injury will heal with rest."
Henman had been in resurgent form of late following a disappointing start to the season which saw him regularly departing tournaments early and suffering from niggling injuries but made it to the final in Tokyo last month.
He added: "If there's such a thing as a good time to be injured I guess it's now at the end of the season when I'd be having some time off anyway."
As he recovers Henman is still looking ahead and trying to capitalise on his recent form. He said that he hoped that the injury cleared up as quickly as possible so he could get off-season conditioning done.
