The top two seeds at the French Open are through to the semi-finals after Justine Henin and Maria Sharapova won in their last eight matches.
Defending champion Henin, who is bidding for her third straight title at Roland Garros, overcame Australian Open winner Serena Williams 6-4 6-3.
Second seed Sharapova made light work of her Russian compatriot Anna Chakvetadze (9) in her quarter-final, winning 6-3 6-4.
Henin, who will play Jelena Jankovic in the last four, broke Williams (8) early on in a fiercely-contested opening set.
But as the crowd sensed a Williams comeback in the following set, the Belgian chalked up successive breaks to claim a comfortable victory.
The 25-year-old has not lost a set at Roland Garros for two years.
Sharapova, 20, will meet the other Serbian in the semi-finals - Ana Ivanovic - after a consummate win over Chakvetadze; a far cry from her injury-hit win over Switzerland's Patty Schnyder in the last round in which she saved three match points.
