The number of new cases of swine flu in England almost doubled during the last week, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) has confirmed.
There were 27,000 new cases over the last seven days, compared to 18,000 the week before.
At the moment there are 29 people per 100,000 being diagnosed with the H1N1 virus. Children and young adults are continuing to most be affected.
Pregnant teenager dies from swine flu
The figures though are considerably lower than predictions earlier in the summer when it was suggested there could be as many as 100,000 new cases a day.
In total, 106 people across the UK have died from swine flu, including a pregnant teenager who passed away in Scotland this week.
A swine flu vaccine will be rolled out next week, with those seriously ill in hospital and pregnant woman to receive the jab first.
In Scotland, around 12, 500 people are believed to have been diagnosed with H1N1 virus during the last week.
