A 36-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a mental health patient in Rochdale.
Telahum Tedola, of Birch Hill hospital, has been charged with the murder of a 58-year-old female in-patient at the hospital, on Union Road, Littleborough, on Monday.
The woman was found collapsed on a ward at about 18:00 BST and she later died at Rochdale Royal Infirmary.
Pennine Care Trust said the woman's death was "sudden and unexpected" and expressed its "sincere condolences to the family and carers of the deceased".
"The trust will continue to assist the police with their enquiries," a spokesperson said.
"Routine procedures will also be put in place to ensure that a thorough review is undertaken following this serious incident."
Mr Tedola was due to appear at due appear at Rochdale magistrates court to face the charge today.
