Police investigating historic cases of child abuse in Jersey have discovered another child's tooth at the home at the centre of the inquiry.

The tooth, the sixth to be found so far, was discovered in what has been designated cellar three at Haut de la Garenne.

A spokesperson for States of Jersey police confirmed that "a few" bone fragments, which could be human or animal, were also found.

Forensic officers are currently waiting for results being conducted on the mainland over the five teeth and unidentified bone fragments already found.

"In the meantime, work continues in cellars three and four at the home," a spokeswoman added.

Two people have so far been charged in connection with the police inquiry, which has seen more than 100 people come forward and claim they were abused as children during their time in the island's care system.End of story
