Lewis Hamilton has reacted to his third place in Sunday's British grand prix by insisting that he can improve still further in his first season in Formula One.
The McLaren rookie won pole position at Silverstone, but a combination of Ferrari's superior speed around the circuit and a pitstop error from the 22-year-old saw him shunted down into third place on the podium.
Spanish team-mate Fernando Alonso cut Hamilton's lead in the overall standings to 12 points by leading him home while Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen is overcoming a slow start to the season as he closed to 18 points off the pace with a win.
But Hamilton is confident that he can surprise his rivals yet again by squeezing more speed out of his car and himself.
"I need to step up my game, which I intend to do. As a team we need to push, as always, but try to push even more if we can," he said.
"As for me as a driver, I'm still learning and I've still time to find in myself through experience."
Hamilton's next chance to add to his points advantage will be at the German grand prix at the Nurburgring on July 22nd.
