Anthony Hamilton, the father of the 2008 formula one world champion Lewis Hamilton, believes Kimi Raikkonen would be the best option for McLaren going into the 2010 season.
Raikkonen moved to Ferrari from the Woking-based team in 2006 and was under contract with Maranello until 2010 until the team terminated their deal a year earlier to make way for double-world champion Fernando Alonso.
This leaves the Finn without a drive for next season, although a return to McLaren in place of his compatriot Heikki Kovalainen, appears to be likely and is a move Hamilton Snr would wholly support.
"Firstly, I would like to say that neither Lewis nor myself have any influence on the driver decisions, but, if I was deciding on Kimi or Heikki, then I would go for Kimi; even though I have nothing against Heikki - we've always liked him, he's a great team-mate and does his job very well," Anthony told Finnish newspaper Turun Sanomat.
However, McLaren will not announce who will partner Hamilton at the team in 2010 until Mercedes has completed its deal with champions Brawn GP and there are rumours that Raikkonen is considering taking a sabbatical from formula one next year.
