Haiti's president has called for more tents to be sent to his country to help house hundreds of thousands of people left homeless by this month's devastating earthquake.
The January 12th quake has left up to a million people homeless, and president Rene Preval has said something needs to be done to re-home survivors.
Meanwhile, a poll has shown the British public has responded generously to the disaster, with 48 per cent already having donated to the Haiti disaster appeal.
The Charities Aid Foundation also found of those who have not given yet nearly two thirds say they might, or plan to in the future.
John Low, chief executive of the Charities Aid Foundation, said: "The response from the UK public continues to be phenomenal.
"Over £46 million has already been given to the appeal. This shows what a generous nation we are. I urge those who are considering donating to do so now because funds are still urgently needed and if you tick the Gift Aid box every pound donated is boosted by 28p."
The Haitian prime minister Jean-Max Bellerive said yesterday that his country should lead the may to its own recovery, but did need support from the international community. He said: "Haitians continue to work in precarious conditions but it is in the position to assume the leadership expected of it by its people in order to relaunch the country on the path to reconstruction."
It is currently estimated that 200,000 people have been killed by the 7.0-magnitude earthquake.
