Portsmouth manager Avram Grant was impressed with his side's performance - despite their 2-0 defeat away at Manchester City.
Pompey had good opportunities to take the lead before their opponents scored two in five minutes at the end of the first half, but Grant was happy with his side's display.
Grant said: "I was impressed with the players and the performance.
"Given our situation, the players are trying their best and showing a lot of character. We can still pick up results."
As well as being aggrieved with both of Manchester City's goals, the former Chelsea boss felt his team performed the better of the two.
"We were definitely the better side. Their goalkeeper was busier than ours," he commented.
"In my opinion, the first goal was offside and the second goal should not have been given because of a foul on Ben Haim."
Portsmouth head into the final day of the transfer window with the possibility of losing more players, but Grant is hopeful we will be able to hold on to the remainder of his squad.
"I don't think any more will leave, but I didn't think that Kaboul would leave," he remarked.
"I'd like to believe we will have the same squad, but I cannot guarantee this."
