Former Chelsea manager Avram Grant thinks his former captain John Terry will stay at Stamford Bridge.
Terry has become unsettled at Chelsea as a result of big-spending Manchester City making two bids for him and reportedly readying a third offer in the region of £40 million. The England captain has yet to make any public statement, fuelling rumours he could leave the club where he came through the academy.
However, Grant thinks Terry wants to stay at Chelsea and that the huge wages being offered by City will not be the most important reason in him deciding whether to stay or go.
"I would be surprised (if Terry left)," said Grant. "I don't know what happened since I left, I can only speak from my time at Chelsea.
"He was a very good captain and a very good player. But I'm not at Chelsea now so I don't know what has happened.
"I don't think John Terry cares about money. You see how he is, he is desperate to win games and to do it in the right way."
Grant revealed how important Terry is to Chelsea by saying that it was the defender who played a key role in bringing the players together when they were in a difficult situation after Jose Mourinho left in 2007.
