England's bowling line-up will be without Graham Onions for the two-match Test series with Bangladesh after he was ruled out with a back injury.
The Durham seamer had been withdrawn from the squad for this Friday's first test in Chittagong having aggravated the complaint in a net session.
However, the 27-year-old's condition is showing no sign of improvement and he is to fly home to recover.
No replacement is expected to be named for Onions, increasing the likelihood of 20-year-old Middlesex bowler Steven Finn making his debut.
The 6ft 7in pace bowler made his county debut as a 16-year-old and took 53 wickets at an average of 30.64 in County Championship division two last season.
"I wouldn't rule Finn out," said England coach Andy Flower. "He's been added to the party and he's a contender for selection. He's bowled with pace on a slow pitch and bowled with accuracy; he's quite a good prospect."
Stuart Broad looks likely to bowl in the first Test against Bangladesh, despite a recent back spasm, and bowled at full pace in a net session on Wednesday.
