Gloucester have moved to the top of the Guinness Premiership after a hard-fought 33-24 win over rivals Worcester at Sixways stadium.

Boosted by the return of England duo Mike Tindall Iain Balshaw to the squad, the visitors fought back from being 14-10 behind at the break.

First half tries from Jack Adams and Anthony Allen kept Gloucester in the game while Balshaw made sure of the win with a late try in the second half after coming off the bench.

Fly half Ryan Lamb kicked four penalties and three conversions as Gloucester survived a late comeback from the hosts.

Peter Richards and Jamie Forrester were booked for Gloucester as Worcester threatened to upset the in-form visitors.

The Warriors were led by tries from the returning Shane Drahm, Dale Rasmussen, and a late score by Thomas Lombard.

Fly-half Drahm also kicked one penalty and three conversions but it was not enough to prevent the Warriors staying rock bottom of the Premiership with five straight defeats.

The win extends Gloucester's unbeaten start to the Premiership season and is their seventh consecutive victory over the Warriors.

Worcester will look to put their miserable league form aside when they face Viadana in the Heineken Cup next weekend while Gloucester are away at Leinster.
