Two of Liverpool's star homegrown talents Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher have both signed new contracts to keep them at the club until 2011.
The four-year deals have been rumoured to be on the table for the players for several weeks and Reds fans will be relieved to know that they have both now been signed.
Despite rumours that one or both players had been delaying signing the deals, both Carragher, 29, and Gerrard, 27, said they are "pleased" to have the situation resolved.
"I am very pleased," Carragher told Liverpool TV.
"Obviously we are both local lads and I've always said I wanted to stay here for the rest of my career. Hopefully I've got one more [contract] left in me that will take me until the end of my career.
"I have signed for four years and hopefully I can still be a regular in the team. That's the aim anyway."
Liverpool skipper Gerrard echoed his team-mate's sentiments, saying he hoped to be a one-club man by the time he retires.
"I'm really pleased too. The negotiations have gone really smoothly," he continued.
"Although they have been spoken about for a couple of weeks, I think it's happened pretty quickly.
"I'm just pleased to get it out of the way and we look forward to next season now. Hopefully over the next four years we can deliver a lot more trophies."
Gerrard, now a veteran player in the international set-up as well, also said that the two players had discussed the prospect of staying on Merseyside and between them made the decision to remain with the club.
"Me and Jamie have spoken about it between ourselves and as soon as the club mentioned a new contract for us both, we were both delighted to sign it straight away," he added.
