England international Shane Geraghty has announced he will leave London Irish at the end of the season and join Northampton.
The 22-year-old is one of the most exciting players in the Guinness Premiership and he will look to add to his three England caps with solid performances for the Saints, where he has signed a two-year-contract.
"I am delighted to be taking up the new challenge that has been offered to me by Northampton Saints, and to work with the coaching team who I know from my involvement with the England Under-21 team," Geraghty said.
"This opportunity will allow me to enjoy being part of the club's future ambitions and also enable me to hopefully force my way back into the England team."
Geraghty has been linked with a number of clubs in recent months, including French side Stade Francais. The fly-half was called "foolish" by Irish boss Tony Booth for allegedly touting himself to other clubs.
Northampton director of rugby Jim Mallinder wasn't concerned about the way Geraghty made it to Franklins Gardens and was just delighted to have the player at the club, who follows Newcastle captain Phil Dowson to Northampton.
"Shane is an exciting, young, English talent, and I am delighted that he has signed for us," said Mallinder.
"We want players who can help Northampton Saints achieve our ambitions to become one of the top clubs in England and Europe over the next few years, and Shane is one such player."
