The West Indies management's decision to impose an 11:30 BST curfew on their squad for the duration of their tour of England has been questioned by star batsman Chris Gayle.
The measure comes as part of a drive to increase team discipline among the side after reports of a lax attitude to training and match preparation during the recent World Cup.
However the flamboyant pinch-hitter, who was named man of the tournament after a string of spectacular displays at the crease during last year's Champions Trophy, has admitted he resents the rule.
"I wouldn't agree with the curfew but it's team policy so you have to go along with it," he said.
"If it was in my hands I would have let guys be more free and do what they want to in the lead up to the first Test."
But the Jamaican has also conceded that, as one of the senior members of the party, new skipper Ramnaresh Sarwan needs his support.
"Without Brian [Lara, former captain] it's a different feeling but all the guys have overcome it now and we have to step up and make a name for ourselves," he said.
"The senior guys have to lead from the front. Otherwise it might be a bit of a struggle. But having said that, we've got good quality players."
